The International Day of Peace is a global holiday to celebrate and remember the value of peace and non-violence in our communities. Join the Amala Foundation and the youth of the One Village Project & Children in Service for an outdoor celebration and peace march on Saturday, September 19th from 2-6 pm at Butler District Park, located behind the Dougherty Arts Center, near Palmer Auditorium in Downtown Austin.
We will be making peace banners and marching for peace!
Wear your Summit shirts, and get ready for some fun!
ARE YOU A MARCHING BAND MUSICIAN?? We are looking to assemble a drum line/marching band-style parade. If you or your friends are able to walk and play an instrument at the same time, please come and make some music for peace!
We'll be meeting in a grassy field behind the Dougherty Arts Center, near the Dancing Fountains. The park is located at the intersection of Dawson and Barton Springs Road. If you're on Barton Springs Road, turn on Dawson and you'll see a public parking lot you can park in.
Click here for a map of the area.
This event is open to all Global Youth Peace Summit participants and parents, counselors, volunteers, Camp Indigo campers and parents, Children In Service participants, friends and family.
We are looking for help with carpooling and giving rides to youth without access to transportation. We are also looking for inspired photographers and videographers to help document the event.
Please give Linda a call at (512)554-7251 or email us with questions or if you would like to volunteer for this event!
